The AHF South Africa Girls Act program, in collaboration with the Artisan Development Academy, recently hosted a “Take a Girl Child to Work” initiative—opening doors for 30 young girls to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and skilled trades traditionally dominated by men.
Through hands-on workshops, participants gained practical experience in fields such as plumbing, bricklaying, carpentry, automotive mechanics, and industrial equipment maintenance. Guided by accredited assessors, the sessions provided high-quality instruction and a rare opportunity for the girls to learn by doing.
More than just a workshop, the initiative sparked curiosity and confidence. By exposing girls to new career paths and equipping them with real-world skills, the program is helping break down barriers and inspire the next generation of young women to pursue technical education and careers once seen as out of reach.
